5 Easy Ways to Spice Up Valentine’s Day With Your Spouse

Traditionally, Valentine’s Day gifts include the ever popular flowers, chocolate or jewelry. But some couples see Valentine’s Day as an opportunity to get creative with gift giving. Sometimes it’s more about the experience and the time spent together. This is what really makes Valentine’s Day romantic.

So if you’re looking for a few ways to add an extra spark to your relationship on Valentine’s Day, try one of these non-traditional gift ideas.

1. Schedule a Boudoir Photo Shoot

I doubt there is a man on the planet who would not be thrilled to receive sexy photos of his woman as a gift. Not only are boudoir photos a fun way to ignite some passion into your relationship, the experience can be a total self-esteem boost. You can be as modest or as revealing as you want, and I promise that your husband won’t complain either way.

You might be surprised just how confident you feel during a boudoir photo shoot. Want to spice things up even more? Schedule a couple’s shoot, where you’re both scantily clad and the sexual tension is so thick it would take a butcher knife to cut through it. This is a surefire way to create lasting memories that will make this year’s Valentine’s Day one for the books (err…the photo albums).

2. Leave Each Other Dirty Love Notes

The written word is extremely powerful. One of the reasons some psychologists ask their patients to leave notes around the house with positive affirmations is because words turn into thoughts, which turn into actions. A cute way to let your spouse know they are on your mind is by leaving love notes for them. It doesn’t have to be around the house, either.

You can leave notes in their car, their lunch, their closet, their underwear drawer. Be creative and think outside the box! Tease them with something like, “Can’t wait to talk dirty to you later” or any other flirty saying that will get them excited.

3. Spend the Day Sexting

Sexting is absolutely not just for teens. (In fact, they shouldn’t be sexting at all!) This new phenomenon works wonders on adult relationships. It can be risky to send intimate messages or revealing photos to your spouse. But honestly, that’s half the fun!

You don’t have to go crazy and send nude photos or messages that could get your husband fired if his boss saw. But have some fun giving each other something (naughty) to look forward to on Valentine’s night.

4. Enjoy a Couple’s Bubble Bath

Not every man will admit to liking baths. But if he knows his woman is going to be joining him, you can bet your guy will be in that bath tub in no time. Fill up the tub with scented bubble bath, light some candles, put on some Marvin Gaye and soak up (literally) the romantic moment.

Washing each other’s bodies is a major aphrodisiac and the whole ambience will set the mood for what is sure to be a very sexy evening – both in and out of the bath.

5. Stay in Bed All Day

It’s such a simple concept, but one that can strengthen your connection with your spouse: stay in bed all day. Seriously. Don’t get out of bed. Leave the kids with your parents or a sitter, enjoy your meals bedside and just “be” with each other.

Snuggle up, watch Netflix, give each other a massage, do whatever you want without leaving your bed. This is a great way to connect emotionally and physically. Plus, it’s important to have at least one day a week where you do absolutely nothing. Why not do nothing with your favorite person in the world?
